We decided to join the HAPS Alliance because the organization shares our vision to connect people across the globe in an effort to deliver limitless digital connectivity and to eliminate the digital divide in rural and emerging regions. Because of our particular experience and expertise, we believe we can make a significant contribution to the work of the Alliance.
Radisys has supported the communication needs of service providers that have been delivering mobile broadband services over satellite through the licensing of our 4G/5G source code for years. Through our source code licensing model, OEMs and service providers can work with us to execute necessary changes to the 3GPP standard to produce mobile broadband solutions fit for satellite communications, while remaining compliant with industry standards.
What’s different about the HAPS Alliance is its innovative approach for supporting the efforts of mobile operators, members of the telecommunications industry and various other fields, which opens the door to new opportunities for communications via high altitude vehicles in the Earth’s stratosphere. This dovetails with my own focus at Radisys for over 15 years, working in our mobility division and concentrating on helping communications service providers deploy next-generation networks that deliver connectivity where it’s needed.
