Working Groups
HAPS Alliance Working Groups enable our eligible members to deepen their participation and enhance their influence on the development and deployment of HAPS ventures. Whatever your area of expertise, as a leader in your industry, our working groups enable you to have a direct and tangible effect on the future of high altitude platform stations (HAPS).
HAPS Alliance Working Groups cover several critical areas: marketing and communications, aviation, and telecommunications.
Working together to accelerate technical growth of safe, reliable HAPS systems to unlock the worldwide services potential of the stratosphere.
We do this by sharing a HAPS Alliance-centric concept of operations with our regulators and stakeholders to find the best route forwards.
Working to advance the global HAPS ecosystem for telecommunications use cases through education, research, regulatory advocacy, and technical standards.
Currently focused on standards contributions to multiple groups and regulatory guidance in support of HAPS solutions.
Supporting the creation of HAPS ecosystem by supporting Alliance goals in driving awareness, safety and regulatory alignment and commercial adoption.
Currently working on educating stakeholders about the value of stratosphere and hybrid networks; building credibility and establishing authority in HAPS operations and bridging the divide between aerospace, teleco and regulatory by facilitating cross-industry collaboration.
Gowri is an engineering leader with over eighteen years of experience in engineering, aerospace, certification, project management, and systems engineering. For the past six years at AeroVironment, he has been focused on making HAPS (High Altitude Pseudo-Satellites) safe and reliable. He had also led HAPS certification efforts for AeroVironment. Gowri has excellent problem-solving, decision-making, risk-management, and teaming skills which he leverages to achieve challenging goals.
Gowri has worked for companies such as Rockwell Collins and Harley Davidson, exposing him to diverse industries such as aerospace, automotive, and construction machinery. He has been an active member of the HAPS Alliance’s Aviation Working Group for the past three years. He has two master’s degrees in engineering.
Gowri is in the process of transitioning to a business management role within AeroVironment. As part of this transition, he has enrolled in an MBA program at Boston University.
Working to provide a platform for equitable discussion and engagement in defense applications amongst HAPS Alliance members.
We aim to articulate how HAPS technologies can be utilized for defense purposes, such as command, control, computers, communications, cyber intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C5ISR).
